AMOS
Gothic Soul
Independent
2001
I've heard this disc refered to as "gothic", which is really a misnomer. Regardless of the title, the music on South American band Amos' disc Gothic Soul can be described as slightly progressive power metal with vocals that can be labeled "gothic" to the unimaginative. Actually, not a bad collection of power metal. Musicianship is tight, there are instruments played that aren't normally associated with the genre, and the lyrics are good. The singer does sound like he's about to fall asleep at any given moment, though...
