ANGEL 7

Black And White

Bombworks

2006

Ukrainian band Angel 7 is an entity that, musically, sounds like a power metal band and a black / forest metal band got caught up in one of those teleporter pod thingies from the movie The Fly (the remake from 1986), and this is what stepped out of the other end.  The technical riffs and blistering guitar solos are there, but then there are the earth-shaking blast beats, heavy rhythms, and the death / black metal vocals, blended together to defy any kind of easy genre classification, yet will more than satisfy even the most ravenous of metal fiend.

The entire time this disc was playing, I more often than not stopped to stare slack-jawed at the speakers, eyes wide at what was emanating from the system.  By the time the last track ran down, my entire body was numb, my limbs experiencing a tingly sensation, my neck hurting, and I'm not sure, but I think I lost partial control over key bodily functions.  This is, my friends, metal that you must pronounce from deep in your gut, rumbling over your vocal chords, and sustaining the "L" for a few seconds.  Go ahead, raise your goblet of rock high, and say it with me:  "METALLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!"

Lyrically...well, there is some broken English there, but they're from the Ukraine.  Nonpoint.  What matters is that Angel 7 is a very blatant Christian band, and the songs on Black And White will make even the staunchest of Christian metal purists proud.

Bottom line is, if you love metal...I mean, really, really love metal...then you must go forth and buy this CD...
